HI HELLO new downloadable tunes aw yee!! Welcome to Planet Compressor, some Real Heavy Shit brought to completion with special help from Screamcatcher (now Bobby Zilch) and Cadence Cube, with remixes from the two of them and (as always) hrmnzr! I couldn’t have made this EP as awesome as it is without their co-productions, so please, please, please go check their tunes out.
If you want a little taste of each track before downloading, you can listen to this minimix.
Also: be sure to download the whole album (it’s free [do I even have to say this anymore, it’s always free]) so that you can grab the DL-only bonus track!!
Ok thanks for listening, and have a nice week! Keep it real

Hi guys, I have a new release on Bandcamp! I am excited to present my first collection of remixes, a compilation which includes works from as early as January of 2012. These are remixes that I’ve done for various artists ranging from Homestuck musicians’ solo works to personal friends whose music I admire. For the full roster, please check out the liner notes on the album’s page.
These remixes span a huge range of genres, from house to drumstep to hip-hop to electronica - I’m very confident that there is something for everyone inside. Additionally, this compilation includes two remixes that have never been available for download until now.
Last but certainly not least, a very special thank you to Tavia for making the album cover!
Please check out the album, download it (it’s free as always! [but you can pay if you want to]) to take it with you on the road, and share it with your friends - I hope you enjoy the tunes!!!

Hi there! Did you hear about my new EP? Today I’m going to talk about how one of the title tracks, TransPacific, came about.
<a href=”http://astrokid.bandcamp.com/track/transpacific-extended-mix” data-mce-href=”http://astrokid.bandcamp.com/track/transpacific-extended-mix”>TransPacific (extended mix) by Astro Kid</a>
TransPacific actually didn’t start out as a song at all, but was just a production experiment. I recorded myself messing around on the microKORG for about five minutes, but ended up liking the results and started to construct a song using samples from that session. The opening chord is actually directly lifted from that recording, and the progression throughout the song is composed mostly of chopped-up samples. Most of the arpeggios you hear before each verse were also generated on the microKORG.
TransPacific has two remixes on this EP - one by myself, and one by hrmnzr. The hrmnzr remix is an 11 minute long epic, and I highly recommend at least one complete listen-through.
If you have not yet, please download the EP - it’s free, and includes an instrumental of TransPacific as a bonus track.

Hi there! Did you hear about my new EP? Today I’m going to talk about how one of the title tracks, Dive, came about.
<a href=”http://astrokid.bandcamp.com/track/dive” data-mce-href=”http://astrokid.bandcamp.com/track/dive”>Dive by Astro Kid</a>
Dive actually started out as a short GarageBand jam on my iPad that I had composed for my workplace. It was made to suit a short introductory video of the building, so it was only about a minute and a half long.
The end product maintains a big chunk of that core, and the instrumentation remains simple and relatively repetitive. Eventually I came up with lyrics that I felt suited the song well (as usual, the clear autumn skies of Texas were a huge inspiration), and experimented heavily with vocal harmonies to cover the slack in the backing track. The result is a upbeat, bright pop song that I had never thought I would end up making. It’s extremely cheesy, partly because I embraced the cheesy GarageBand MIDI instrumentation and ran with it.
Dive has three remixes, provided by myself, hrmnzr, and Solatrus! All three of us took very different approaches to the source material, and I enjoy the diversity and contrast that the EP has because of that.
If you haven’t yet, please go check out the EP - it’s a free download!

NEW EP!!
<a href=”http://astrokid.bandcamp.com/album/transpacific-dive-ep” data-mce-href=”http://astrokid.bandcamp.com/album/transpacific-dive-ep”>TransPacific/Dive EP by Astro Kid</a>
Hi everyone! I am proud to finally release TransPacific/Dive EP on my Bandcamp! I began working on these songs around September of last year and couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out.
Be sure to check out the works of hrmnzr and Solatrus who provided awesome remixes for this release. Not only did hrmnzr provide two remixes for me, we also collaborated on one of the original tracks.
Please download the EP (it’s free, and there’s a download-only bonus track!) and give it a listen; share it with your friends, spread it around, and let me know what you think. You can shoot me a message on tumblr, hit me up on Twitter, or write on my Facebook page. I also have a SoundCloud that you can follow for more frequent music posts.
Thanks, and enjoy the music!
